Sclerotherapy in Peoria, AZ

Sclerotherapy treats spider veins and varicose veins on the legs. A solution injected into the vein makes it close and fade as your body absorbs it. It's priced by the vial at $250 each, so your total depends on how many veins and how much area you want treated.

How it works

Each vein gets a small injection of solution that seals it shut. Over the following weeks your body clears the closed vein. More veins or a larger area take more solution, which is why pricing goes by the vial.

Sclerotherapy aftercare

Compression is the most important part of recovery.

  • Wear 20 to 30 mmHg compression stockings in your regular size for two weeks after each session
  • For the first three days, keep them on day and night
  • After that, wear them whenever you're awake
  • No heavy exercise for a week, but walk as much as you can
  • Avoid travel for a week or two, to lower the risk of blood clots
  • No heat on your legs: skip hot baths, hot tubs and saunas. Cold is fine
  • Expect bruising on your legs

“That helps to keep the veins tight and compressed so that the medicine can work at closing the vein.”

Results

As the bruising heals, usually after a week or two, the treated veins start to fade. Closing every vein usually takes more than one session, and sessions can be repeated every four weeks. A vein that's fully closed stays closed, though new ones can appear if you're prone to them.
